Off we go again

The doctor that I spoke with this morning said that we will be going home today. Friday his shite blood cell count was 29,000 and this morning they took it and it was 9,000 which is normal!! HOORAY!! We are leaing some time soon, hopefully VERY soon! I am ready to take this little monster home!! He is totally back to normal and back to good ol Hunter. Yesterday he was trying to fart on Rich, so we knew that he was back to normal. He is ready to go home and see his papa and gigi and nana!! I think he just wants to go swimming.

We do have a busy week this week though. Not going to be much time at home. Tomorrow Rich and I have our first marriage counseling with our Pastor, have Wednesday off, Thursday Rich has his Best Places to Work event in Fort Wayne, Friday we have to go to Cincy to have his tube taken out and show me how to put it in and out to do his enima's and Saturday, Rich and I are going to go do our bridal registry! WHEW!! What a busy week we are going to have!

Thank you all for your prayers and continued support. We love you all!!

Here's the verdict

To my dismay, the doctor isn't going to release him until he has been fever free without the aid of Tylenol for at least 24 hours, so we are looking at Saturday night to Sunday morning to evening at the earliest. Mom and dad called and said that they were going to come down tonight so I can go home and do the things that we had planned for tomorrow!! MOM AND DAD ARE THE BEST!! They totally don't have to do that, but want to be near him, so I am going to let them, plus I need a break.

So, that is that for now. Don't think that anything else is going to happen unless he has another fever and then I will post that. Right now he is acting like Hunter and wants to go to the playroom, but has to eat some more of his lunch first.

God is faithful,
Danielle and Hunter

Today

Well, he had a fever through the night and has one again and the doctor is going to come in soon. I am going to ask him if it would be possible to give him oral antibiotics and tylenol at home since that is all that they doing here or when it would be possible to go home. I really want to go home. I think that he would start acting like he felt better if he was at home, like any normal kid would. I am really ready and I know he is and just really want to go home. We know that he has a UTI and I can treat that at home and take him to get cultures...so...I am going to plead him to let us go home, but if he feels that Hunter would be in danger if we went home, then of course I will stay. I miss my family and just want to be at home. I am sick again of being in the hospital as I know that Hunter is sick of it. He has already asked 4 times when he can go home and see his pawpaw, Gigi, his daddy, and his sisters. I feel the exact same.

I'm sure that it sounds like I am complaining, and I guess that I am a bit, but I just want to take him home and take care of him if all they are going to do is the same things that I can do here. I wanted him to have a normal summer for once and so far that hasn't happened.

Please pray for him and for favor with the doctor. We have been doing this long enough and we really do know what we are doing.

Thank you for your faithfulness,
Danielle

Here's the verdict

They just came in and told me that his urine culture came back very positive, so there is the answer...as simple as it may be...a urinary tract infection. Well as minut as that is, that is all that they can find to cause all of these things. He said that it was "astronomically high", so at least we have an answer. They are going to start him on antibiotics and hopefully we can get a negative culture in 24 hours and then we can come home which would be great. The girls have a big party this weekend and I was really bummed that we couldn't go. Plus, Rich scheduled a hair appt for me that I was upset that I wouldn't be able to keep, so now I might get to do both! Keep praying though!

Thank you everyone,
Danielle

Back down to 100.9

back up to 103.3...this one just won't break!! Starting to get very frustrated!!

99.7!! LOOK AT JESUS!!

new temp

She just took his temp again and it was 103.6. He is now draped in ice packs and said that he feels yucky!

during the night

Well, when I got here this morning, the nurse told me that at 2 am he had another fever or 104.2, so he now has been fever free for 8 hours, but another one is starting to creep up, so I am hoping they can stop this one before it gets too high.

I feel like I need to share a God sighting. When we got home from Lutheran, I was worrying about how I was going to pay my bills this month, and there was a get well card for Hunter, so he opened it and there was a Visa gift card in it. This is the second time that God has provided at the perfect time. We were completely overwhelmed yet once again. I have no idea who is doing this for Hunter and I and if you happen to read this, may God richly bless you. It has come at the exact moment when it was needed and I am totally in awe of God's blessings!!

So, back to Hunter. I asked why they wouldn't keep giving him meds before his fever spikes and the answer was that they want to try and find out what is causing the fever, not just treat the fever, but find the cause which I guess I understand, but he is miserable when he has a fever, just like any normal person.

Please continue to pray for him. This is frustrating for everyone...mom, dad, Rich and the girls and everyone in my family.

Thanks,
Danielle

Can we all get a break

Well Hunter woke up again this morning with a fever and complaining that his left hip was hurting again, so I called Dr. Dick and he said to bring him to Parkview and he would call Riley in the meantime to see what they said as far as something to do to help him. He called me back and told me just to head to Riley, so we are here in Indy. They really can't find anything wrong, so they are going to treat it as a viral infection and once his fever breaks and stays broken for 24-48 hours then we will get to come home. The doctor said that his joints and deep tissues look and feel great so he doesn't think that it is arthritis or anything like that, so that is a good thing. I have my computer with me this time, so I will get to update daily until we leave.

keep truckin,
Danielle

Here we go again

Well, we are back in the hospital, but this time at Lutheran in Fort Wayne. Early Sunday morning, Chloe woke me up and told me that Hunter was screaming and said that his hip was hurting. We played alot outside this past weekend for the 4th, so I thought that he had just played to hard and was just going to rub his hip and go back to bed. Well...Chloe woke us up about every 20 minutes that he was screaming. He was also burning up, so I uncovered him thinking that he was just wrapped to tight in his blanket. At about 5:30, I realized that something was wrong and gave him so me Tylenol and took his temp and it was 101.4. I jumped in the shower with the intention of just taking him to the ER after church but something kept telling me to take him right away and I am glad that we did. They took some x-rays and really couldn't find anything, so they drew some blood and found his white blood cell count was 31,000 and the normal is between 9,000 and 12,000. Over 30,000 indicates a massive infection. I then became terrified. They were finding anything on the CAT scan or the MRI which further made me nervous. They still haven't been able to find the source of the infection. His temp has gotten as high as 104.8 and that is dangerously high. They started a PICC line today and the scan that they are going to do is to draw out blood, spin it down to where it is just white blood cells, inject them with radioactive material and tag them, then give them back to him and watch to see where they go to fight off the infection. So, we will be here until at least Friday possibly longer.

Mom and dad have come up a couple of time and Rich has been such a trooper. I think that Hunter is getting sick of being here, but at least this time he recognizes faces since all the nurses know him here and mom and dad and Rich can come when they want.

Please pray that God would show his doctors where this infection is at, because I am tired of being scared and not knowing!!

Thanks,
Danielle
