Surgery day

Well, he came through his surgery with flying colors. It was in fact that there was a bundle of nerves that were tethered, not the actual spinal cord itself like we had intially thought. He went into sugery at 8:45 and Dr. Young made the incision at 9:11 and we got the page that he was done at 10:36. Dr. Young said that Hunter will have no problems with playing sports or walking as he grows up and that is very exciting for us since all he has been talking about is being on the baseball team...the girls are playing ball and that is all that he can talk about!!

Mom and I just got back from lunch and he was out like a light and dad told us that he ate 4 packages of crackers and a whole sippie cup of grape juice and can eat whatever he wants and that is a total miracle. The last time he had this surgery, he couldn't eat for 2 days, so I thoughouly thrilled! Rich was so sweet and came down to be with me this morning and then mom and dad were here when we got to the room.

Thank you all for your prayers...if you have questions, please ask. God has blessed me with a wonderful child, boyfriend(soon to be fiance), mom and dad, and family who loves God and prays all the time for this miraculous little boy!!

Thank you all,
Danielle, Hunter, Rich, Chloe, Claire, Cherie, and Carl

Sorry

Sorry that I missed a day!! Well, yesterday was pretty stressful, but today is better. WE GET TO COME HOME TOMORROW (there bethie, I spelled it right)!!! I am so stoked. We have to go in the morning to get a final x-ray of this belly, meet with the urologist and then with dr. levitt to devise a plan and then off we go back home. We will be in Indy on the 30th of this month to detether his spinal cord, AGAIN, and will be there for 3 nights and 4 days, then sometime in May we will come back down here for a surgery here and be here for 7-10 days and then 4 weeks later will have to come back for a post-op appt. That is going to be crazy. Drive 3.5 hours for a 30 minute appt and drive 3.5 hours home!! YUCK, but that is what has to be done. I am hoping that my employer will be generous during this time, so if you could be in prayer about that, I would appreciate it!!

Hunter and I have both felt your prayers during the last 2 weeks and it is greatly appreciated.
I will do my best to stay on this one and to keep it up!!

Wedding plans to come...

Today

Well, got a call from the nurse and he is still clean in his colon which is awesome, so now we are going to work on scheduling his next visit which will be surgery to reverse his cecostomy (where I give his enima) and do what is called a Malone. It will be a small descreet port in his belly button so that I can give his enima's with no pain and as Hunter gets older, it will make it so that he can do it by himself, so it will cause him to be independant to do it himself. I am pretty excited about it. I guess they are planning on doing it within the next couple of months. I'm npt excited to take more time off of work, but I will do whatever it takes to take care of my son!!

More tomorrow...

Nothing really new

Well, this weekend the whole clan came down to see Hunter and I and we all had a blast!! Mom and dad came down on Friday and we went out to eat and then just hung out! We went to Friday's to eat and it was yummy! Hunter is totally coming into his own right now and he is totally hysterical!! Saturday Rich and the girls came down and that was also a blast!! We went to Arnie's down on the river and then went to the aquarium. It was totally cool!! Two different sections had plexiglass that went 360 degrees and there were stingrays, sharks, fish, tons of stuff that was swimming over and under us!! It was incredible!! We then went to a sweets store and the girls and mom got chocolate. Mom and dad took Hunter and Rich and I took the girls to Target to get bathing suits so they could swim with us! We came back and took the girls to the pool. Them mom and dad took the girls and Hunter out to eat and then to see nim's island. The kids loved it and mom and dad enjoyed having them for the night. Rich and I went on a date ALONE for the first time in probably 5 months. We went to Dave and Buster's and for those of you who don't know what that is...it is an adult Chuckie Cheese!! We had such a blast and as much as I love the kids, it is nice to just do something with him. We got on Sunday and I made breakfast for everyone, played Jeopardy and trivial pursuit, then mom and dad left. It was so nice to have everyone here. I miss them all being here, but we will be home soon and the next time that we are gone it will only be 2 and have hours away instead of 3 and a half.

Just got a call from his dr. and he said that everything looked good in his bowel this morning, so we will stay on the regimine that we are on. So, as of right now, everything looks good and we are on schedule! Thank you all for your prayers and please don't stop!

Love you all,
Danielle and Hunter

Here's the plan

Well, we saw Dr. Levitt today and I am excited about the course of action that we are going to take...for the time being. He is changing his enima regimin and that is what I am most excited about. It is some of the same stuff that we have used before, but this time in a much smaller dose. The whole purpose of this program is try and get him to get cleaned out, so that he will eat more and gain weight, and to keep him cleaned out so there are no more blockages. Eventually, he wants to get rid of his button and put a port in through his belly button so that he can do it on his own, eventually. We are seeing urology on Monday and Tuesday to have his bladder and kidney looked at to determine a course of action for his urological needs as well. I am very encouraged by what Dr. levitt told me today and I just pray that it will work. Any questions, just ask!

No appts today

We didn't have anything to do today, so we got up, went to the indoor pool, came upstairs, got dressed, and went to the zoo! It was so much fun!! It is a pretty awesome zoo. I took a bunch of pics of the animals. Hunter had a great time. I don't plan on doing anything this evening, one cuz I can't afford it and two we have to be at the hospital at 8 in the morning for a lecture and then meeting with the dr. at 11. Mom and dad are coming down tomarrow and I am pretty excited about that. Rich and the girls are coming on Saturday and I am pretty excited about that as well. I miss them all so much.

So, I will write sometime tomarrow, probably when we get back from meeting with Dr. Levitt and then won't for the weekend, but will at the end of our appts on Monday!!

love you all,
Danielle and hunter

Today

Today nothing big happened...we went and got 2 x-rays of his bowels to give to Dr. Levitt, who works in the colorectal center. Nothing big today. I miss being at home! I am fine if I am in Fort Wayne for 2 weeks, but being 3.5 hours away...that is hard for me. Mom, dad, Rich and the girls are coming down this weekend to kind-of break it up for me, which will be nice. I miss my family and we have only been gone for 1 day. We have no appts tomorrow, so I think that I am going to take Hunter to the zoo...we'll see! I'll let you know 2morrow!

Love ya,
D

Here we are

I am going to try and be better about updating this blog for all of you who still care...just kidding!

Well here we are in Cincinnati about to go through 2 weeks of testing and different things to check Hunter's bowels to see if he can ever ever have a normal bowel movement. No one knows if it's possible, but that is why we are here. We got a call from his neurosurgeon a couple of weeks ago and Hunter's spinal cord has re-connected to his tail bone, so on April 30th, my son will be having his 14th surgery to detether his spinal yet once again. This surgery will be done at St. Vincent's children's hospital in Indy. I am having to take 3 weeks off work that is unpaid due to the fact that I have taken all of my vacation for his dr.s appt's. Please continue to pray for him.

Well, Rich and I went through our counseling and we are doing awesome. We will be getting married on November 8th. I am totally stoked!! Mom and I went shopping for a wedding dress yesterday and we found one at David's Bridal. It is gorgeous!! We got the tiara, the veil, the skirt, the shoes...everything!! It has finally hit me that we are going to get married. We asked my parents permission a couple of weeks ago and they said yes, so I AM GETTING MARRIED!!!

I will do my best to update this everyday that we are here and while we are in Indy for his surgery. If I don't get to it every day, please don't be upset.
