Well, we are back in the hospital, but this time at Lutheran in Fort Wayne. Early Sunday morning, Chloe woke me up and told me that Hunter was screaming and said that his hip was hurting. We played alot outside this past weekend for the 4th, so I thought that he had just played to hard and was just going to rub his hip and go back to bed. Well...Chloe woke us up about every 20 minutes that he was screaming. He was also burning up, so I uncovered him thinking that he was just wrapped to tight in his blanket. At about 5:30, I realized that something was wrong and gave him so me Tylenol and took his temp and it was 101.4. I jumped in the shower with the intention of just taking him to the ER after church but something kept telling me to take him right away and I am glad that we did. They took some x-rays and really couldn't find anything, so they drew some blood and found his white blood cell count was 31,000 and the normal is between 9,000 and 12,000. Over 30,000 indicates a massive infection. I then became terrified. They were finding anything on the CAT scan or the MRI which further made me nervous. They still haven't been able to find the source of the infection. His temp has gotten as high as 104.8 and that is dangerously high. They started a PICC line today and the scan that they are going to do is to draw out blood, spin it down to where it is just white blood cells, inject them with radioactive material and tag them, then give them back to him and watch to see where they go to fight off the infection. So, we will be here until at least Friday possibly longer.
Mom and dad have come up a couple of time and Rich has been such a trooper. I think that Hunter is getting sick of being here, but at least this time he recognizes faces since all the nurses know him here and mom and dad and Rich can come when they want.
Please pray that God would show his doctors where this infection is at, because I am tired of being scared and not knowing!!
Thanks,
Danielle
